Common Pitfalls
Avoid issues with LED underwater lights by choosing the right products. Make sure they are designed for underwater use, with proper protection against water damage. Our expert team can help you pick the best lights to ensure long-lasting performance.
Compatibility with Fountain Design
Not all underwater lights are suitable for all types of fountain designs. The lights you choose should complement the overall design of your fountain and enhance its visual appeal. It is essential to consider the size and shape of the space in which your fountain will be located.
The Importance of Light Sources
Water feature lights mostly use LED light sources, but there are still differences. Ordinary LED beads are inexpensive, have low brightness, short lifetimes, and average color rendering. Imported LED light sources such as CREE, Osram, Epistar, Epileds have long lifetimes, high luminosity, good color rendering and natural effects.
Material Selection
Underwater lights are generally made of stainless steel. The main difference is the type of stainless steel used. The lower-priced ones may be made of regular stainless steel, which is more prone to rust and has a shorter lifespan. On the other hand, slightly more expensive models will use stainless steel above the 304 grade, while better quality models will use materials such as 316L stainless steel, which is resistant to impact, corrosion and rust.
Product Certification
Ordinary underwater lights may not have been professionally tested, but simply tested to make sure they glow properly. Usually excellent quality underwater fountain lights pass the IP68 level, the highest level of waterproofing, as well as CE European Safety Certification, ROHS European Electronics Safety Certification, ISO Quality Certification, SGS Certification, etc.
Waterproof And Dustproof
Most water featuire lights are usually underwater, so they must have properties that allow them to operate underwater for long periods of time. When choosing, be sure to check the luminaire’s water and dust resistance rating. According to the highest standard for IP68 protection class, it should be 6 for dust protection and 8 for water resistance.
Heat Dissipation
The interior of the submersible spot lights will use an aluminum substrate to enhance its heat dissipation performance, and the higher the thickness, the stronger the heat dissipation capacity. For some small lights, it is best to use a copper substrate as a radiator when using high-power lamp beads. It is stronger than aluminum substrates in terms of heat dissipation and will be relatively more expensive.
Choice of Brand
After deciding what type of underwater luminaire to buy, you need to consider the brand. There are hundreds of brands of underwater luminaires on the market. When choosing, do not choose some suppliers without corresponding qualification certificates because of a desire for a small bargain. Believe that an excellent brand will give more assurance of quality and avoid the frequent replacement of lamps in later years.

More fountain lights are not always better. Putting too many fountain lights is completely unnecessary, because too many fountain lights will make the light too dazzling, will prevent people from appreciating the beauty of the fountain itself. What really determines the number of fountain lights is the size of the fountain, the surrounding environment, and the mood you want to achieve.
First, the depth of the water affects the illumination of the light. As the water gets deeper, it spreads the light beam and diminishes its effect. In general, installing fountain lights with a depth of more than 4 feet is unnecessary. You need to make sure that it is positioned so that it passes through the water and provides sufficient and even illumination. Second, it should be convenient for maintenance. It is important to understand that a light that has been submerged in water for years is prone to corrosion, which means that you should install it in a place where it can be easily repaired and replaced.
